Blue waters, sunny skies, amazing villa, access to a resort, exquisite food. What more could we ask for? The Villa Esmeralda, by Karisma, went beyond our expectations by providing magnificent service and a truly memorable experience. The villa is located beach side north of the Azul Beach Resort and came with access to all of its amenities. Depending on if you want to be social or have a nice quiet relaxing time on your private beach, the choice is yours.

The villa sleeps 12 with 6 bedrooms, four in the main house and two poolside. The decor was very chic and modern. The light palette of colors in the home made perfect for the openness of the villa, perfect for morning coffee while watching the sunrise.

The clear highlight of this trip was the impeccable service. The villa was fully staffed with a butler, chef, house manager, and security. During our entire stay we were treated like royalty. Whether it was drinks by the pool, assistance arranging outings or just an afternoon snack, the staff was ready and willing to take care of our every need with a smile on their faces.

The food at Esmeralda was second to none. Our private chef curated 5 star dishes at each meal. Made to order breakfast including juevos rancheros, bacon, eggs, smoked salmon, french toast and fresh fruit. Lunches consisted local dishes such as paella, tacos, and ceviche. Or if we were longing for tastes from home they provided us with delicious burgers, fries or pizza. Dinner was where the chef really shined...they were a multi-course meal fit for a Michelin star restaurant. Each night was incredible but the fan favorite was the surf and turf. The grilled lobster was definitely the best I have ever tasted. Cooked to perfection it was succulent, and superbly flavored. The melted butter could do nothing but watch as it was rendered totally obsolete.

Needless to say we definitely ate way to much during the week. But fortunately for us Esmeralda came equipped with it's own personal gym, and tennis court to help us burn all of those excess calories.

The staff also provided us with a private in-house tequila tasting. Wilbur set up a beautiful display on the patio and educated us about the different types of tequila while introducing us to sangrita, a local tequila chaser. Sangrita is a tomato based mixture similar to a bloody mary with a sweeter finish. The Villa Esmeralda also offers other activities such as snorkeling, deep sea fishing, and other water sports.
